Stoneguard’s unique tradition and expertise in restoring historic buildings is invaluable
as many stations are of significant historical or architectural interest.

The work marries modern construction methods with both traditional and modern
materials while ensuring compliance with 21st century safety regulations. It is scheduled
during night hours to minimise disruption to passengers.

Both the interiors and exteriors of many stations have suffered from prolonged pollution. Stoneguard Rail teams, predominantly skilled stonemasons, undertake a wide variety
of tasks. These include specialised concrete repair and brickwork cleaning as well
as water damage repair and waterproofing.

Original finishes are replicated using Faience and ceramic tiles, hand-made by heritage
suppliers, for area repairs or full replacements. Stoneguard Rail also installs Heavy
Duty London Transport nosings, tactile stair nosings for the visually
impaired and platform nosings.

Floor tile replacement uses the latest bonded screeds so that the areas can be
brought back into service without delay.
